You may have noticed that for the last month or so I’ve not stuck to my hoped schedule at all. Perhaps it wasn’t the wisest decision I’ve ever made to begin a blog not long before the summer holidays for my tiny and medium human and our planned summer holidays.
It was a much needed amount of rest and I focused on my kids as well, but I also need to get back into work as well. There’s been some conversations in the background about the castle I mentioned recently but we’ve not found the pieces we need this time to make it work I don’t think.
I knew it was fairly early days and we wouldn’t find it easy, but I was still able to have some more serious conversations with the other people who are likely to be involved and begin laying some groundwork. Even if this castle isn’t the right one for our retreat, we’ve made progress of a sort.
And around that I’ve begun looking at the plans we have for life and the next 6 months. I’ll share more about my plan for the next 6 months soon as I want to keep this little quick blog quite short, but I’m back to the usual schedule from here on out. On a Monday, what I’ve done to further the normal income update and plan, and then my more broad, exploring other elements, on the Thursday.
I will also do another little financial update in a couple of days that goes over some more progress as the debt is more settled and I have some good news to share in that regard.
Taking a break and going on holiday or a vacation isn’t something I find easy, so I’ve found several ways to trick my brain into letting me unwind. With this holiday it was a road trip that allowed me to visit castles in Scotland and various other places in England on the way there. Both for research for books I’m writing and to get a feel for what living in Scotland might be like.
Not only did we have a great time as a family, but I learned a lot and I did actually rest. Mentally and emotionally at least. I don’t know about physically when I had two smaller humans with me, but they had a wonderful time as well.
I’ve had some health news since my last blog as well, but it’s actually sort of good news. The results of a test that were the most positive they could be. I now have a diagnosis for a long term issue that should see me get the help I need finally. Not curable, but manageable with the right care.
It’s a big weight off and will also make it easier for me to focus on my long term goals. Such as buying a castle.
So with all that, let me just say that this week I’ll be back at work, aiming for the usual amounts of words and preparing for some comic con appearances later in the year. It’s time to knuckle down and earn some money. All of it adds up.
